Joe Biden announced that he will continue to serve as President until his term concludes in January 2025 and plans to address the nation later this week.
On July 21, U.S. President Joe Biden announced that he is ending his reelection campaign due to increasing calls from within the Democratic Party for him to step down.
In a post on X, Mr. Biden stated that he will continue serving as President until his term ends in January 2025 and will address the nation later this week.
Joe Biden quickly made it clear what his decision means for the Democratic Party. Within 30 minutes of announcing that he will not run for reelection, he endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee. This move left no doubt about the direction the party should take.
In his statement, Biden expressed the immense honor he feels in serving as President. He admitted that while he initially planned to run for a second term, he now believes that stepping aside is the best decision for both his party and the country. Biden emphasized that his main priority for the rest of his term will be to fully dedicate himself to his presidential duties.
Indian-American businessman-turned-politician Vivek Ramaswamy had predicted about eight months ago that President Joe Biden would not be the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. Ramaswamy’s prediction was based on his belief in understanding the motivations and incentives driving political decisions.
“The best way to predict the future is to follow the incentives. It’s surprising how accurately you can predict things, even the timing,” said Ramaswamy, a 38-year-old Republican, in a social media post. He shared this along with a video interview with Fox News from last November, shortly after Biden announced his decision.
In the Fox News interview, Ramaswamy elaborated on his viewpoint. He suggested that the political group supporting Biden had lost their faith in his effectiveness as a candidate. “The reality is that the group managing Biden has no longer found him useful. This has been clear to me since last year. He is not their strongest candidate,” Ramaswamy explained. He added that this group would go to great lengths to prevent Donald J. Trump from returning to office, indicating that Biden’s perceived weaknesses made him less viable for the upcoming election.
