The partnership between BJP and JJP is particularly notable as it combines the strengths and voter bases of both parties to manage the state’s affairs collaboratively.

Haryana Assembly Elections: A Look Back at 2019

The last Assembly elections in Haryana were held on October 21, 2019. In these elections, the BJP, led by Manohar Lal Khattar, won 40 seats, making it the largest party but falling short of a majority. To form the government, the BJP allied with the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), which had won 10 seats, and secured support from 7 Independent MLAs. The Congress party came in second with 31 seats, and the regional party INLD secured just 1 seat.

As a result, a coalition government was formed with Manohar Lal Khattar from the BJP continuing as the Chief Minister for a second term, and Dushyant Chautala from the JJP becoming the Deputy Chief Minister.
